Old Hunt School at Jackson
& 4th St.
• Built
in 1869.
• Rebuilt in 1891.
• The
building itself was moved to 27th & Myrtle and renamed Adams
School in 1906.
Building razed
in 1920 to make way for new Crescent Park School.
West Side Brick School (later
Webster) at W. 5th St. & Market
• Built
in 1872.
• Rebuilt in 1939
Mann School at W. 3rd
& Bluff
•
Built in 1880; addition in 1884.
East Side Brick School (later Irving) at 11th & Jennings
• One room school in
1880.
• Rebuilt in 1886; an addition in 1908.
• Remodeled and modernized in 1927; additions in 1934 and 1949.
• Rebuilt in 2006 and moved to 9th & Floyd Blvd.
Dwight School at 7th & Wall St.
•Built in 1880; addition in
1884.
• Closed for school purposes in 1925, building was razed that same
year.
Grammar School (later Armstrong) at 8th & Pierce St.
• Built
in 1882; addition in 1886.
• Closed for school purposes in 1927 and building was razed in
1931.
Peabody School at E.3rd & Prospect
• Built
in 1883. Later moved to E. 6th & Morgan St. Later renamed
Lincoln.
Fifth Ward School (later Worcester and then Hobson) at Wall
& Dace
• Built
in 1885; additions in 1888 and 1907.
• Rebuilt in 1938.
West Eight Street School (later Hopkins) at W. 8th &
Panoah
• Built
in 1887; additions in 1890 and 1916.
• Rebuilt in 1934.
Pearl St. School (later Bancroft) at 11th &
Grandview
• Built
in 1888.
• Rebuilt in 1934.
Greenville School (later Cooper) at Leech & Fairmont
• Built
in 1888; additions in 1894 and 1903.
• Remodeled and modernized in 1931.
Cole’s Addition School (later Franklin) at E. 9th St. &

• Remodeled and modernized in 1934.
Davis Addition School (later Everett) at W. 3rd &

East Junior at 15th & Morningside Ave
• Built
in 1917; additions in 1919, 1923, 1934 and 1949.
• Closed for school purposes in 1972. Currently being used by
Northwest AEA.

• Closed in 2001 and building razed in 2002.
North Junior at 25th & Nebraska St.

Woodrow Wilson Junior at 10th & Iowa

• Closed in 2004 and building razed to make way for new Irving
Elementary School.

Leeds Junior/Senior (later Elementary) at 39th &
Jefferson

• Rebuilt in 2008 (combination of Leeds, Lowell and Hawthorne
Schools)
Riverside High School (later Elementary) at 23rd and Riverside
Blvd.

• Closed temporaily in 1982 because of declining enrollment.
• Reopened in 1995 as Hayworth Middle School.
• Extensively remodeled and expanded in 2002 and renamed East
Middle School.
Herbert Hoover Junior High at 36th & Country Club
Blvd.

in 1964.
• Closed as a middle school in 2004.
Nodland School at Mayhew Ave
