Back to School Night and New Family Registrations Planned

    Back to school nights and registrations have been planned for the schools in the Sioux City Community School District. Parents whose children are transferring within the district or whose children are new to the district should contact their school office during the week of August 11-15 and make an appointment to pre-register their children.

  • Bryant Elementary – Tuesday, August 19 from 5:30-7:00 p.m.  
  • Clark Elementary – Wednesday, August 20 from 4:45-5:00 p.m. for all new families, and then from 5-6:30 p.m. for all families.  
  • Crescent Park – Tuesday, August 19 from 5-6:30 p.m.
  • Emerson Elementary - Tuesday, August 19 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.  
  • Everett Elementary – Wednesday, August 20 from 4:30-6:30 p.m.  
  • Hunt Elementary - Tuesday, August 19 from 5-6:30 p.m.
  • Irving Elementary – Tuesday, August 19 from 5-6:30 p.m.
  • Joy Elementary - Tuesday, August 19 from 5:30-7:00 p.m.
  • Leeds Elementary - Wednesday, August 20 from 5-6:30 p.m.
  • Lincoln Elementary - Tuesday, August 19 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
  • Longfellow Elementary - Thursday, August 14 from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
  • Nodland Elementary (grades K-2) - Tuesday, August 19 from 5-7:00 p.m.
  • Sunnyside Elementary (grades 3-5) - Tuesday, August 19 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Riverside Elementary - Wednesday, August 20 from 6-7:00 p.m.  
  • Roosevelt Elementary – Tuesday, August 19 from 5-6:00 p.m.
  • Smith Elementary – Wednesday, August 20 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.  
  • Unity Elementary - Thursday, August 14, from 6-8:00 p.m.  
  • Washington Elementary - Tuesday, August 19 from 5:30-7:00 p.m.
  • Whittier Elementary – Tuesday, August 19 from 5:30-7:00 p.m.  

 East Middle School will have registration Wednesday, August 20 at the following times:     
        8th graders at 8:30 a.m., 7th graders at 10:00 a.m., and 6th graders at 1:00 p.m. Orientation will be held for all new students on Monday, August 18 at 7:00 p.m.

    North Middle School will pre-register students new to the Sioux City Community School District by appointment. Please call 279-6804 to arrange time. All students will complete the registration process on the first day of classes, Thursday, August 21, beginning at    7:40 a.m. There will be an open house for all students and parents on the evening of Tuesday, August 26, from 7-8:00 p.m. 6th graders and their parents, plus other students new to North Middle School, will have a brief orientation in the main gym at 7:00 p.m. on that evening.

    West Middle School will pre-register all students new to West Middle School the week of August 5-7 and the week of August 11. Please call 279-6813 for an appointment. All students will complete the registration process on the first day of classes, Thursday August 21. All 6th grade students and parents are asked to attend orientation on Tuesday, August 19 from 5:30-7:45 p.m. An open house will be held for 7th & 8th grade students on Tuesday, August 26, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. 

    New high school students should contact their high school prior to the first day of school to make an appointment.

    The first day of school for all students is Thursday, August 21. Elementary and middle school classes begin and dismiss at the regular times, which are 8:40 a.m.-3:30 p.m. for elementary and 7:45 a.m.-2:45 p.m. for middle school. Ninth grade students will attend from 7:55-11:45 a.m. and the upper classmen (10th, 11th and 12th grades) will attend from 1-2:55 p.m. Hot lunch will not be served during on this day for high school students. Regular schedule 7:55 a.m.-2:55 p.m. will begin at the three high schools on Friday, August 22. Central Campus classes begin on Monday, August 25.

    There will once again be a one hour early dismissal on every Monday during the school year for professional development. Elementary will dismiss at 2:30 p.m., middle school at 1:45 p.m. and high school at 1:55 p.m.
