Middle School Athletic Program Offers Free Physicals
The Sioux City Community School District is proud to once again offer middle school athletics for all 8th grade students for the 2008-2009 school year. We are excited to announce that on top of boys’ and girls’ cross country, boys’ and girls’ track, and boys’ and girls’ soccer we will also be offering girls’ basketball and boys’ wrestling.
Family Health Care of Siouxland will be volunteering their services to provide athletic physicals to any incoming 8th grade student that will be involved in the 2008-2009 middle school athletic program. There will be two providers, one male and one female, along with a clinic nurse, who will perform the physicals. The physicals are required for any student who wishes to participate, and are good for one calendar year. Students will need to pick up the physical form from the school’s activities director office or main office prior to the physical. They must also have the general health information filled out prior to the physical.
The physicals will be given
at the middle schools on the following dates:
North Middle School Monday, August 25, 2008
from 12:45-2:45 p.m.
East Middle School Tuesday, August 26, 2008
from 12:45-2:45 p.m.
West Middle School Wednesday, August 27,
2008 from 12:45-2:45 p.m.
Please have your child obtain a physical at the school they attend. Because of the early out for professional development on Monday, transportation will be provided to those North Middle School students who ride the bus home.
The sports will run as
follows:
• Cross Country will begin August 28 and run
through the week of October 6 with five meets.
• Girls’ Basketball will begin October 8 and will end November 6
with six games.
• Boys’ Wrestling will begin October 13 and will end November 14
